Brownhill Learning Community

Work experience is an integral part of our Work Related Learning Curriculum which we continue to offer despite the Education Department taking it out of the statutory requirements for schools.

The management of work experience placements is overseen by Stella Oldham, Learning Support Lead.

Our work placements are provided through 'Our Futures' an organisation which prides itself in delivering high quality services at competitive prices.  'Our futures' places students in individually assessed companies tailored to meet the needs of the student.

Our year 10 students are offered 1 week block placements which are usually scheduled during the Spring Term.  Pupils are always consulted about their placements and where possible, they are placed within their desired profession or trade.

In year 11, students are offered work experience placement in the industry they are pursuing through their vocational curriculum.  Students eligible for the flexible programme will attend their placement once a week.   The flexible placements also commence during the Spring Term.

All students are expected to attend an interview  with the prospective employer before their placement commences.
